PATIENT EDUCATION GUIDE
This guide is an excellent teaching aid to use chairside. The use of a hand mirror or an intraoral camera becomes an extremely meaningful and effective teaching method when combined with the Patient Education Guide. Showing patients healthy sites first and then diseased sites in their own mouths is crucial. The moment the patient sees the green disappear or sees bleeding, there is an instant recognition that there is disease. Patient Education Guide

INSTRUCTIONS
Instructions for performing a screening are found on the back side of the Patient Education Guide. The reality is, since the technique is so simple, that after doing a few screenings the instructions are really no longer needed.
A COMPLETE PERIODONTAL EVALUATION
It is important for all patients to have a complete and comprehensive periodontal examination and charting performed periodically. The PerioWise Screening System is not a substitute for a complete and comprehensive periodontal examination. Probing depths, attachment levels, mucogingingival problems, gingival recession, furcation involvement, tooth mobility, occlusal discrepancies, defective restorations and radiographic findings should be recorded formally during this complete examination.

SUMMARY
The PerioWise Screening System offers a fast, accurate, simple, clinician and patient friendly method to screen patients for periodontal diseases. The System provides an accurate record of screenings over many years in one place, thus enhancing risk management. It only requires remembering "green go" or "red stop" and there is virtually no writing required. The Screening System enables patients to immediately find out their own periodontal status and to learn about the causes, ramifications and treatment of periodontal diseases. Try it!
