Being a Better Leader through a Teaching Fellowship Program

A teaching fellowship is a great way to build your leadership skills. There are many programs specifically set up to support and nurture people in their endeavors. People who go into fellowship programs are there to become great leaders in many areas. They lead students and they also lead families. Often they become leaders in communities while they pursue their Masters degree.A person in a teaching fellowship leads students not just in the classroom but through other projects as well. They work hands on with students and with families to build curriculums to enrich the community. They plan culture-building activities to meet these ends. Sometimes these events have the purpose of educating about a specific culture. For example, teaching a community about the Native American people of the area. There is much to learn about how they used to live and how they live now. It is very educational for the children but also brings the community closer. Another example of a cultural event for a teaching fellowship would be to have a world foods day. Everyone can bring in food that is traditional for his or her culture and then everyone can share. This involves the parents and brings the community closer.A person in a teaching fellowship is not just concerned with teaching in a classroom though. They are interested in enriching the whole community. This can be done through out reach programs. It can also be done through field trips. A great field trip that helps to build community values and help to educate would be a trip to a local historic site. Not all communities have something nearby but for some a historic site may be right next-door. For people living in New England, it can be hard to avoid historic areas. A person doing a teaching fellowship could easily plan a trip to Mark Twain’s house or the Salem Witch Museum. All of these things are done while pursuing a masters degree through the teaching fellowship program. Everyone knows there is never enough time. A person can barely balance work and home life let alone take the time to enrich him or herself further by taking classes. Those that can swing it are true leaders in a community, and should be commended. When people have families on top of working and going to school, it is a wonder that they can do anything at all for themselves. A teaching fellowship program at least lets you combine some of your work with your education so that a person can balance their life. There are all sorts of programs set up so one can pursue their Masters in the educational field that they desire.
