Pre-service training and curriculum launched at the University of Sindh
The beginning of 2008 saw a new partner in the space of Pre-service training for the Intel® Teach Program. The Faculty of Education, Elsa Kazi Campus of University of Sindh (at Jamshoro and Hyderabad) organized a faculty training program with the Intel® Teach team. With the help of the course coordinators Professor, Dr. Parveen Munshi and Ms. Shakeela Shah of the University of Sindh a successful training was conducted with 30 participants. The auxiliary staff of the Faculty of Education also provided great support for the 5-day training conducted from the 23rd to the 27th of January 2008.
After the success of the training at the Faculty of Education, University of Sindh, an MOU was signed between Intel® Pakistan Corporation and the University of Sindh in February 2008 to train 1,000 student teachers annually. The Faculty of Education has so far, designed an integration plan for the Intel® Teach curriculum into the existing university curriculum, to train future teachers on the effective integration of technology in their teaching practices.
Furthermore, in June 2008, Professor Mohammad Akhtar Siddiqui – Dean, Faculty of Education at the Jamia Milia University in India, visited the University of Sindh Campus in Hyderabad, where he was given a warm welcome by the entire team. He was eager to extend educational ties between Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi and University of Sindh, Jamshoro in the future. He was confident that his visit would bring both the universities closer to each other and will bring educational as well as cultural harmony.
