Welcome to the College of Education

The Ohio University College of Education has a proud history, spanning 120 years. Our influence is felt both locally and globally. We were the first public teacher preparation program in Ohio. The state’s first kindergarten opened on our campus in 1907.
Today, the College’s educational excellence reaches across the world to such places as Honduras, Ghana, Kenya, and the United Arab Emirates. Our faculty’s expertise in research, teaching and outreach extends internationally to four continents. We have distinguished ourselves by establishing partnerships to address social, economic and educational issues affecting communities worldwide and impacting American students’ ability to learn in our public schools. For example, we have established an Instructional Technology program at the University of Jordan in Amman and Saudi Arabia’s Alfaisal International Academy that mirrors the one our College offers.
The College of Education is organized into three departments: Counseling and Higher Education, Educational Studies and Teacher Education. The College serves more than 1,300 undergraduate and 600 graduate students. We are committed to providing supportive and challenging experiences that foster the development of educators, human service professionals and the communities they serve.
Our mission is to prepare educational leaders in a learning-centered environment. We believe the future depends on our ability to prepare
Talented, Responsible, Ethical
Educators who are dedicated to lifelong learning.
